Cascade Flag Football Association Partners with Microsoft

Foremost, we want to extend a warm welcome and congratulations to Brain Hawker as he continues to nurture and drive engagement for a Seattle league, further expanding the NGFFL family. Through a partnership with Microsoft, the Cascade Flag Football Association is now a recognized non-profit organization by Microsoft's Give campaign! This means when a Microsoft employee donates money or time to Cascade Flag Football, Microsoft will match the donation or will make a donation for the time the employee gives! This is an extremely exciting partnership for a budding league and the NGFFL. This will not only bring the Cascade FFA to a whole new level, it also further extends the community reach of the NGFFL. A huge and sincere thank you and congratulations to Audrey Schena for shepherding through the process and to city leader, Brian Hawker!

Gay Bowl Experience and Robert Kraft

Gay Bowl was an excellent experience this year for many reasons: the great fields, the welcome atmosphere from the city of Boston, the parties, and so much more. Speaking of the parties, let’s take a moment to reflect on one of the most significant happenings in the history of the NGFFL, the presence of the NFL and Patriots owner, Mr. Robert Kraft (and his son). The Krafts joined us at the closing party to offer a unifying (and sometimes comical) speech to the NGFFL members. It was truly a defining moment for moving our league to the next logical level in a partnership with the entire NFL. However, as usual, the New England Patriots and the Krafts have set a trend and blazed a path for other teams to aspire to meet.

We want to extend a huge thank you to Dave, Danny, and the entire Boston Gay Bowl committee (the volunteers as well) for their tireless efforts in putting together a historic Gay Bowl. We sincerely thank you for a memorable experience in Boston.

NGFFL Board Seeking Entrepreneurial Minded Candidates

Interested in giving back more than you take? The NGFFL Board is now accepting applications, as current terms will end for Rory Ray (Director of Sponsorship/Technology), Shigeo Iwamiya (Gay Bowl Liaison), and Brandon Waggoner (Director of Special Projects). Wishing to continue to serve, both Rory and Shigeo will seek reelection in order to retain their roles. Brandon Waggoner has decided not to pursue another term. We welcome all interested parties. Nominations forms are due on or before 11/15/2017. Voting will be conducted, via city leaders, by 12/1/2017.  New directors will assume office on 12/15/2017.  Please note: current commissioners are not eligible to serve unless their term is expiring.

Congratulations Gay Bowl XVII Champions

In a much anticipated rematch from Gay Bowl XII where the San Diego Bolts first claimed the title of Gay Bowl Champions over the New York Warriors, and from Gay Bowl XVI, where the Bolts successfully defended their historic Gay Bowl reign – the New York Warriors Black came out with one goal: WIN! In an epic game (which was broadcast live on Facebook to more than 6,000 viewers), onlookers witnessed the San Diego Bolts ultimately succumb to the strength of the combined efforts of the New York Warriors Black in a 25 to 18 loss, ending the five year Bolts win streak, and crowning the New York Warriors Black our new Gay Bowl Champions. Congratulations to the Warriors Black on being the 2017 Gay Bowl XVII Division A Champions! You played hard, you played well, and you played to win. Great job!

In the women’s division, the Denver women continue their dominance as a Denver women’s club (Mile High Blue) again brings the Gay Bowl Championship back to the Mile High City in a convincing win over the San Diego Breakers, with a final score of 39 to 13. The women’s game was also broadcast live on Facebook and tallied well over 7500 live views. Congratulations to all the women who competed and continue to expand and elevate the NGFFL!
