New Women’s Liaison, Leslie Goldstein

The NGFFL Board proudly welcomes Leslie Goldstein into the ranks. Leslie comes in to replace Azsur Rollins, who formerly held the role. Leslie is a seasoned vet in the NYFFL. In her own words: “I have been an active member of the NYGFL, for over 6 years (13 seasons), as a player, captain, board member, and ref.  My objective in all of these capacities has been to try and create a positive experience and environment while helping improve and grow the league. I hope to be able to do the same for the national league.”

We are certain all of her experience in New York will be vital to her capacity to fully exceed the expectations set forth for the role of Women’s Liaison.

The NGFFL Board is thrilled to have Leslie join us and ready to put her to work for you! Leslie is excited to share her talents on the national level because she is a dedicated member of the NYFFL and the NGFFL. Additionally, the league holds value to Leslie because she met her wife through the league, and that’s what we are all about, uniting people! Welcome aboard Leslie. We are all cheering for your success!

Great at Communication? We Want You for a Communications Committee

Are you a person who loves social media or are otherwise technologically savvy? Do you have ideas on how to improve or extend the reach of the NGFFL communications? Do you wish you had the opportunity to share your talents and ideas with the NGFFL? If your answer is yes to these questions, this opportunity is for you! The NGFFL is looking for a few motivated and committed individuals to form a communications committee, under the leadership of the Director of Communications, O.T. Porter. The goal of this committee would be to create viable and executable plans for NGFFL communications strategies, including e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, Podcast,  and other social media platforms. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please contact O.T. Porter (otiz@ngffl.com) for questions or more information.

Phoenix Gives Back in a Great Way

The PGFFL (Phoenix) Board is excited to announce their league introduced an LGBTQ college scholarship, for a high school student-athlete in Maricopa County, effective January 1, 2018.  The scholarship is a joint venture with Phoenix Pride, which will administer and regulate the scholarship. The league has previously funded two years of scholarships, each with a value of $1,000.

The PGFFL Board received funding from the Arizona Gay Rodeo Association (AGRA) and Charlie’s Phoenix for their volunteer work last year. The money was used to help lay the foundation of this scholarship. Phoenix Pride and Charlie’s are two of the Phoenix league’s largest sponsors and partner closely with them to grow their footprint and to help the league flourish.

The PGFFL will raise future scholarship funds through league merchandise sales. They currently offer league shirts, a special edition pride shirt, and the travel team shirts (Cheers Logo). Another one of their proud sponsors, HP2 Promotions, is working to have the shirts made. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the scholarship fund and can be purchased on the new website www.PGFFL.com. The store is coming soon and will allow shirts to be shipped to all NGFFL members, across the nation. Future items and ideas are in the works for raising funds to ensure the sustainability of the scholarship.

The PGFFL Board is excited about being able to offer a stepping stone to the athletic youth of Maricopa County. They want everyone to: “Be proud of who you are and be proud to be an athlete.”

The PGFFL understands the challenges faced in high school by LGBTQ student-athletes, but wants to show those youth there is an athletic community here to support them. They hope the actions of the PGFFL will open the door for other LGBTQ athletic communities to come together and give back to future athletes. Bravo Phoenix!
